Swiss Medical Fellowship | GileadPro

Swiss Medical Fellowship

The Gilead Swiss Medical Fellowship Program awards grants to support innovative projects in five key areas: HIV, hepatology, oncology, cell therapy, and invasive fungal infections. These projects aim to advance medical science, develop reproducible models, and improve patient management and patient-centered care.

The evidence generated will help shape public health policy and clinical practices. It will also foster new collaborations within Switzerland. Projects incorporating patient feedback are prioritized. Interventional trials and practices are not in scope of the program. Proposals which include the usage or uptake of Gilead products cannot be supported within the Swiss Fellowship Program.

Funding may be awarded to projects focused on:

HIV

  • Improving HIV care and management of comorbidities
  • Innovative research on key scientific questions
  • Innovations which address gaps across the continuum of care

Hepatology

  • Screening implementation and linkage to care in HBV and HDV
  • Documentation of epidemiology, burden of disease and patient management in HBV and HDV
  • Projects characterizing and addressing unmet medical needs in PBC

Oncology

Innovative, patient focused research in advanced breast cancer aiming to:

  • Optimize patient care and management
  • Assess disease burden and epidemiology
  • Address key scientific questions

Cell Therapy

  • Research projects addressing important scientific questions in the field of hematology, with focus on B-cell lymphomas, acute lymphoblastic leukemia
  • Ways to improve management of patients with B-cell lymphomas, acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Invasive Fungal Infections

Research projects on epidemiology, risk factors and disease course of invasive fungal infections

„The Gilead Swiss Fellowship program is a pivotal funding program that allows to
improve the care of patients by supporting projects addressing real-life clinical gaps
or by supporting innovative projects to advance science. Importantly, this program
offers the opportunity to young researchers to increase their scientific independence
and enhance their research profile.“

Funding restrictions

  • Gilead funding cannot support more than 33% of your organization’s annual operating revenue.
  • Retrospective activities that have already taken place or activities that are already being funded by Gilead are not eligible for support.
  • Gilead will only provide funding for equipment that is not funded or not fully funded via normal channels (e.g. the general hospital setting).

  • Funding for personnel can only be accepted if there are no other sources of funding (e.g. if an employee of the hospital is involved in the project, Gilead Sciences cannot pay for the project work time of this staff member). Please confirm in the budget part of the request that no other sources of funding are available for the staff involved in the project.
  • For medical materials/equipment, only costs incurred for running the project can be taken into account. In case of specific needs of equipment a pro rata calculation or leasing for the period of the project should be specified in the budget request.
